Purpose
The redevelopment of the historic General Electric campus into Electric Works is one of great significance to the Fort Wayne community due to the size of investment and space, as well as the cultural heritage of innovation at the place. The Union Street Market (USM) at Electric Works has been established as a front door for residents to come together and equitably benefit from the opportunities this transformational development offers. The Electric Works Public Market Trust (Trust) was established in 2020 as a 501c3 nonprofit to steward the public good of USM.

Mission of the Public Market Trust
To cultivate an inclusive and multicultural gathering place that offers a home for small business ventures, in particular food entrepreneurs, food and beverage producers, artisans, makers, and farmers in Northeast Indiana, while supporting healthy food access, community wellness, and cultural heritage.
Board
Electric Works Public Market Trust is governed by a volunteer board of directors, with six members appointed by the Allen County Capital Improvement Board, two members selected by the Electric Works development team, and up to five other members by the board itself.
Board members are committed to supporting the Market’s mission and working in partnership with Market management and merchants to create a world-class food market that provides substantial benefits to the local economy and that improves the community’s wellness.
